Uwharrie Evening Run

Uwharrie Evening Run
Low water bridge

We try to take out our bikes as often as we can to explore the roads around us locally but mainly to just get out and ride with each other (and get used to the bikes). This is just one of many rides we have done local to our area. Nothing great happened but we are lucky in that we have an area that has quite a number of unpaved types roads that allows us to become more familiar with our bikes.

We live very close to the Uwharrie National Forest. The forest itself has MANY gravel roads AND off road trails. The surrounding area also offers a number of hard packed dirt and gravel roads. We frequent this area quite a bit and are getting quite familiar with the roads and points of interest. Once we have tied all our routes together into one large all encompassing route, we will post the GPS file so anyone can use it.

This was an evening ride. The weather was perfect and Kirk was showing me some roads he had found. We took the LONG way home and really had a nice time on the bikes. I can tell that both he and I are getting more comfortable with the bikes and they way they handle. I am glad that we have had this time to just ride the bikes without any of our gear on them (although I really miss my panniers - cannot go anywhere to purchase anything).

Again, nothing to exciting on this trip other than good company, good trails, and beautiful weather. In short, we just like to ride and it is always more fun when we can do it together. Plus it gives me a distraction so I do not have to mow the grass.
