Route 66 - Day 5

Route 66 - Day 5
Day Five

Today was a rest day. Not that we really needed it but more because our hosts are so much fun. Both Kirk and I are guests in their basement but they also have another couple (Glen and Wendy) staying in their RV on a cement pad on their property.

This morning, got up not too early and headed upstairs for some coffee. After the morning greeting, our host Scooter made bacon, sausage, and eggs for us. The eggs came from their chickens and were quite delicious. We then sat outside since the day was sunny and cool. I strolled around their property taking a look at their 11 acres. Scooter does have a cool 1972 Ford pickup in the barn.

This day was very relaxing. At lunch we had leftovers from dinner and then proceeded to play darts. They have this really cool electronic version that basically does all the work. The beer and margaritas began to flow.

Our hosts were also gracious enough to allow us to use their washing machine and dryer. I was getting ready to do it myself and Renee insisted that she do it. Ok, who am I to object. I am just happy to wash some really stinky clothes.

We ended up playing darts for quite some time. The setup they have in their garage makes for a fantastic entertainment area.

They have setup a table and high top chairs which are quite comfortable. It is almost like sitting in a bar.

Finally around 5:30, our hosts started to make dinner. We were pleasantly surprised to find out that steaks and baked potatoes were on the menu. After grilling, the meal was served.

Again we ate in the entertainment room. After dinner, we chatted some more then Kirk and I needed to start planning for tomorrow.

We have another host lined up. We also were having issues with Kirk's GPS so we wanted to see about getting that fixed. Once that seemed to be be fixed, I headed downstairs to clean up and put away my clean clothes to get ready for leaving tomorrow.
