New Sargent Seat

New Sargent Seat
New Sargent Adventure Touring Seat

I (Scot) decided to break down and purchase a new seat for my bike. There was nothing wrong with the old one except that after about 60-90 minutes, I would have a couple of spots where it began to get painful on my rear. Not sure if it is because I weigh 210lbs or if there is not enough stuffing in the OEM seat, but something needed to be changed. Kirk has no issue with his seat but he is a bit lighter than I am.

I read all I could and the consensus was to buy a Sargent seat. I went with the Touring Adventure Seat (not the Performance Plus Seat). I was able to get it on sale and it arrived within 2 weeks of placing my order. When it arrived, I could already see the difference. Here is a comparison of the seats from the Sargent website.

Sargent Seat Comparison

First glance, they are much wider which spreads the weight out even further for less stress (similar to driving on a 4x8 sheet of plywood on grass - you do not get tire ruts). I did get the heated version but did not purchase the rear seat as it is never used by anyone except my duffle bag.

Once installed, both Kirk and I took did a 300 mile drive to test out its comfort. The seat did its job. The pain points I used to have are no longer there. I am not saying the seat is like sitting in a lazy boy recliner but so much more comfortable. Yes, I can still tell I am sitting on a motorcycle after hours of riding but it is NOT uncomfortable. Not having any pain makes any ride a lot more fun.

So if you have any seat issues, give Sargent a try. They have seats for many popular bikes.
