New Bikes!
Yup! Last week both us pulled the trigger and decided to bump up our game and got brand new 2022 Triumph Tiger 900 Rally Pros. What a sweet ride. We both drove up on a Tuesday after lunch and at 6pm, drove home on two brand new bikes.
So why the change? Many reasons I guess. One was the total lack of power. Our last camping trip, we were in the Blue Ridge mountains. We really noticed when our bikes were packed up, the total lack of any power on the simplest of hills. That got us thinking.
Next, many little things. For one, Kirk's bike had two defects from the factory. The first was a stripped head for the spark plug. But he could not get anyone to take credit and just fix it. Now it was not causing any issues, yet, but changing the plug was going to be a problem. His next issue was the constant stalling. It seemed to be getting worse. Whenever he stopped or let off the throttle with the clutch disengaged, it seemed to stall. Supposedly they had a fix (flash the ECU) but that was not proven out yet.
I did not have as many issues but within the first month, I could not get the fuel pump to start up. I replaced the relays and all seemed good. Kirk did the same yet after making that change, one morning, he could not get the fuel pump to prime.
My other issue was a wobble that started. I noticed it on our ride when loaded down. It made the bike very unstable and hard to control. I was getting close the maximum limit on weight as well.
In the end, we talked and decided to just do it. Yes, it was a lot more than we wanted to spend BUT we absolutely are loving the bikes. Best investment ever.
