Lunch Lap

Lunch Lap
The lunch lap ride to Statesville

I just found out about a ride that happens once a month and it is called the Lunch Lap. They usually starts these in April through October. Each ride is different (so I am told) but they always start at 11am at Sambuco Barber. Get there at 11 for some comradery and maybe a bloody mary. Close to noon, kickstands up and the ride begins.

This particular ride our destination was Tilly Harley Davidson in Statesville. They were having a band, food truck, etc so that is where we headed. I was quite surprised in the organization of this event. First, there were close to 80 bikes. Second, they had blockers for every intersection which kept the entire group of riders together.

The ride itself was nice. There are a number of backroads in our area that are low traffic with some twists and turns and some nice scenery. Overall the ride went flawless. I think everyone had a really good ride. We did stop about 10 minutes from our destination but that was to allow the video folks time to get setup when we arrive.

When we got to our destination, there were about 30-40 bikes already there. The band was playing and there was a food truck. We got all settled in and hung out for a while. We arrived close to 1pm. We stayed for a couple of hours and then decided to head back to uptown Charlotte.

We got back on the highway and hit a traffic jam. There was an accident on I-77. It was hot and we decided to get around it as quickly as possible (not going into details so not incriminate myself). Once we got past the wreck, we were able to jump on the toll road and made great time back to uptown.

We got lunch and then headed over to the Thirsty Beaver. Got see a lot of friends who were not on the ride. Overall, a great day. I have put all the Lunch Lap dates on my calendar so I will be sure not to miss a one.
