Dunlop Trailmax Mission Tires - UPDATE
Update on my Dunlop Trailmax Mission Tires

The Dunlop Trailmax Mission Tires are a popular choice for dual-sport and adventure riders looking for a tire that offers versatility and durability on both pavement and off-road terrain. After approximately 4,000 miles of use, here is my feedback (here is my initial review of the Dunlop Trailmax Mission).

On-Road Performance

Handling & Grip - The Trailmax Mission tires offer excellent road performance, especially for a tire designed for both on-road and off-road use. I am very surprised on the tire’s solid grip during cornering, stable straight-line performance, and good braking response. The handling remains predictable, even at higher speeds.

Wet Conditions - These tires perform decently in wet conditions, providing adequate traction on wet pavement. However, like any tire, caution is recommended in extreme wet conditions. I have not had the tires slip on me yet.

Noise & Comfort - Despite their aggressive tread pattern, the tires are relatively quiet. I am not saying I cannot hear them because I can. I am comparing the noise level to the Mitas EO-7+. I have not noticed the "rumbling" when slowing down with a more knobby tire but that is expected.

Off-Road Performance

Traction on Dirt/Gravel - The Trailmax Mission excels in light to moderate off-road environments, offering good traction on light gravel, hardpack dirt, and loose surfaces. The tread pattern is designed for adventure, allowing it to handle varied terrain confidently. The front tire does not handle nearly as well as the Mitas when in a bit looser/thicker gravel. It dances but you can still maintain control. But honestly, that can be expected since this is a 70/30 tire (not a 60/40) and comparing it to a 50/50 is not really not fair. It handle fine and tracks well.

Mud and Sand - While they perform well in most off-road conditions, these tires aren’t the best in deep mud or soft sand. The block-style tread can struggle to clear mud and do not do well in sand. Get a pair on real knobbies.

Durability - After 4,000 miles, these tires look new. The rubber compound is tough and holds up well, giving confidence that the tire will likely last for many more miles. I think they the rear will get to 10K miles while the front, much longer.

Summary Pros

Excellent on-road handling for an adventure tire
Good off-road traction on light to moderate terrain
Durable and long-lasting rubber compound
Quieter on paved roads but still makes a bit of noise

Summary Cons

Not ideal for deep mud or soft sand or deep gravel

In conclusion, after 4,000 miles, the Dunlop Trailmax Mission Tires continue to impress metheir durability and performance, especially for those who require a versatile tire for both road and off-road adventures.
