Dunlop Trailmax Mission Tires

Dunlop Trailmax Mission Tires

With well over 7K miles on my bike, my tires are starting to show a ton of wear. I will admit, the stock tires that came on the Triumph Tiger 1220 Explorer kind of suck. I believe these are Metzler Karoo Street tires. They are at best an 80/20 tire....I beg to differ. But I will say, they are much better than what came on my Tiger 900.

I was running the Mitas E-O7+ tires on my Tiger 900 but decided to try something else. They were great tires but the wear was not great (and I had one tires I got that was out of round). Since I do more on road than off road, I wanted a tire that I could get a more miles out of yet still not compromise the off roading (well, dirt/gravel roads) control.

After reading a lot of reviews, I decided to try the Dunlop Trailmax Mission. A lot of research has gone into this tire. 2 years in development, many prototypes, and a lot of time spent on just tread pattern.

One thing notice is there really are not any knobs on the tire and this is supposedly a 50/50 tire. I do not think so. I would say it is a 60/40 at best but the reviews say it really does a great job on road and off road. Especially for the type of off road rider I am. I think Dunlop is new to the adventure tire market and from what I read, this tire really does a great job.

I think this tire will be a good fit for me. Hopefully get them installed next week and start riding for while and get a feel with how they handle. This is kind of a shot in the dark based on many who have ridden these tires for a number of miles and given their input. I have not really heard any bad reviews except these are NOT 50/50 tires. That does not mean they do not handle well off road, they are just not as aggressive.
