Dooley's Tavern

I have stopped by here a few times for a beer but this was the first time I stayed and had lunch. Located in the historic Smithey Hotel building, it serves a variety of American dishes, including popular items like the "Pimento Cheese Burger," wings, and the "Hangman’s Rare Roast Beef Sandwich." I was here on Sunday and the special was Meatloaf with mashed potatoes and cabbage. I did not get the gravy (not a fan).

I thought the food was very good. I like my mashed potatoes creamier but they were still good. I really did enjoy the cabbage as it was not over cooked (sometimes you get it and you can tell it has been sitting in a pot all day). And my beer was cold! They have both inside and outside seating. I opted for the outside. The inside has a cool vibe (I have sat in there at the bar).

Overall, Dooley's Tavern is a great spot for visitors looking for a relaxed meal with good service in downtown Wilkesboro.
