Bilt Pro Tourer Air Boots
I decided to purchase a pair of lower cut touring boots. I love my Forma adventure boots but I have found that with commuting to work, having a boot that looks more like a shoe relives me from having to carry another set of shoes.
I have been looking for a low cut boot for quite some time. Everywhere I go or look online, I find one I like but not in my size. I have a large foot (I just fit in the largest size that Forma makes). I found these by accident. I was at my local Cycle Gear store returning boots actually. After I got done getting credit, I decided to look at what they had in stock.
Now I have looked many times before but they NEVER seemed to have anything even close to my size. Well, I found 3 pairs of boots that I liked. I started looking at what sizes they had and to my surprise, I found two pairs that were a 13 and a 14 (14 is the largest they make). I decided to try them on.
I first tried the 13 and it was too small. Then I tried the 14 and surprisingly, it felt good. The boot was stiff since it is leather and I realized it will take a bit to soften it up but I knew it would stretch out a bit. I bit the bullet and bought them. And at $89, I was happy with the price.
I have had these boots for months now. Before I wrote about them, I wanted to give them a fair review. I hate folks that review a product that they used for a week. IMHO, to properly evaluate anything, you need to really use it.
Overall, these boots are an excellent purchase. My criteria was that I wanted a smaller low cut boot that would easily fit under my jeans when I go to work and just around town. Also, the adventure boots, since they are tall, can get a bit hot in the summer. Do not get me wrong, I will always wear the adventure boots when I go off roading but just for running around town, the low but boots fit the bill.
It took a while to break them in. I think the main reason is that since these are motorcycle boots, I do not wear them ALL the time like a pair of sneakers. I also opted to purchase a new gel insole (I did the same for ALL my shoes). Well i can say now that wearing these are quite comfortable. And yes, they are waterproof but since they are low but, your pants tend to rise above the boot cuff and water will get in.
I am very happy with purchase and would get them again once these wear out. They seem very sturdy and I have not had any issues with the zippers or any of the stitching. Bilt is Cycle Gear's in house brand but the quality still seems to be there. Next time your are looking for gear, give Bilt a look.
